Sinopsis(1)
Who are the Debolts and where did they get their 19 kids? The answer is: the DeBolts are a family living in the outskirts of San Francisco. It is made up of the parents, Robert and Dorothy, and their nineteen children, of which thirteen are adopted. The adopted children are either handicapped or of foreign origin. Director Korty concentrated on the emotional relationship between the DeBolts and their children and among the children themselves. The film does not conceal the physical handicaps of the children, but does not emphasize them, either. Korty merely wants to show how the family lives. Partly owing to fine camerawork by John Else the film has become a marvellous portrait of this altruistic family. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
