Magdalena Lazarkiewicz

Director and screenwriter, younger sister of director Agnieszka Holland, mother of composer Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz. She graduated from cultural studies at the University of Wrocław (1976). In 1977-1978 she was the literary director of the Jaracz Olsztyn Theatre. In 1982 she finished her studies at the Faculty of Radio and Television of the University of Silesia in Katowice. Since 2011 she has been working as an artistic director at the International Film Festival "Jewish Motifs" in Warsaw. She is a member of the Polish Film Academy. Initially, she made documentaries (e.g. Nostalgia, Służba, Cud). She made her feature debut as a director with her film Przez dotyk (1986), which she made in 1985 with the help of Krzysztof Kieślowski.
