Markus Imhoof

Markus Imhoof was born in Winterthur in 1941. He is a Swiss film director and screenwriter. After working as an assistant to Leopold Lindtberg at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, he went to the Zurich University of the Arts to study film. After a few short films, he made several documentaries and cinema features, among them Danger of Escape (1976), Das Boot is voll (1981) and The Journey (1986).

In 1996, he founded Markus Imhoof Film GmbH. He is a guest lecturer at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin and the Zurich University of the Arts. He is also a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin, the European and the German Film Academy and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in Los Angeles.
