Biografía

Born in Montreal, Hany grew up in Morocco until the age of 17. He moved back to study philosophy and film production at the University of Montreal. After learning the ropes of production on different fiction and documentary projects, he took the reins of the company Art & Essai in 2012. Since then, he has produced more than a dozen short films that have stood up nationally and internationally such as Follow the fox (Palm Springs, Jutra nomination, Canadian screen Award nomination), Remaining Lives (TIFF) Mutants (TIFF, Guanjuato Film Festival, BFI) and Wild Skin (TIFF, Stiges, Vladivostok Film Festival).

In 2015, Hany was selected to be part of the Berlinale Talent Lab campus and received a SODEC grant for the Producer’s Network in Cannes as an emerging producer. He was also involved as an associate producer in the co-production of the feature film Fatima by Philippe Faucon (Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes, Louis-Delluc Prize, winner of seven Cesars).
