Rafaël Ouellet

Rafaël Ouellet (b. 1974, Dégelis, Québec) took a degree in radio and television production before working in TV for several years. After this, he cooperated with Denis Côté as an editor (Drifting States/Les états nordiques, 2004) and cinematographer (Our Private Lives/Nos vies privées, 2006). His short films include I Mokret (Dans le noir, 2003), Przeprowadzka (2003), Film dans un sauna (2003), Face B (2004) and Dans l’est (2005). For his 2007 debut Mona´s Daughters (Le cèdre penché) he acted as screenwriter, director, editor and producer. In 2008, he shot Behind Me (Derrière moi), which was shown in competition at San Sebastián. This was followed by New Denmark (KVIFF 2009). Last year, he was named Best Director at Karlovy Vary for his family drama Camion.
