Biografía

Heiner Carow (1929-1997) was a screenwriter and director. He studied directing in a school program at the state-run DEFA studios, where he also later worked. He debuted with the family film Sheriff Teddy (1957). He found great success with the drama The Legend of Paul and Paula (Der Legende von Paul und Paula, 1973), which was the longest East German live-action film. He followed this with Ikarus (1975), So Many Dreams (So viele Traume, 1987) and the breakthrough documentary Coming Out (1989).
