1929 is not only the year of Man with a Movie Camera, but also the year of its proverbial antithesis, Kaufman's In Spring, a metaphor of revolution. The poetry of water in particular takes on the character of all the states of matter. And then we see all the things we associate with water, from ships to doing the laundry.
