inglés Roscoe Arbuckle directed under the pseudonym William Goodrich from 1924 until his untimely death. That was his only chance, apart from the slight acting opportunities, to stick with film after the daunting scandal that ruined his career. In the 1910s, along with Al St. John and Buster Keaton, they formed an unforgettable trio of comedians no one would recognize a decade later. And by the 1930s, only a shadow of a generation remained. Fortunately, shorts like Windy Riley Goes Hollywood make it possible to recall those shadows in a sound film. Louise Brooks, who played a star named Betty Grey, later recalled what an honor it was for her to film with Arbuckle, even though it was towards the end of his career. Conditions have changed, but respect remains. ()
