Sinopsis(1)

Artist Mounira Al Solh, born in Beirut and graduated from the Rietveld Academy, makes the personal political, and vice versa. Mounira Al Solh (Beirut, 1978) draws, embroiders, paints and designs installations, performances and magazines. She studied painting at the Lebanese University of Beirut and fine arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. In 2007-2008, she resided at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. In her body of works, personal themes are closely connected with political ones. In encounters and conversations with other people, she looks for themes like migration, identity, language and feminism. This yields works that were displayed at The Art Institute of Chicago, the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, the Van Abbemuseum and Documenta 14 in Kassel. (Nederlands Film Festival)
