Happy New Year (2014)

inglés Sure, it's as mainstream as it gets, it's cheesy, narratively simple, and it's not even as intricately crafted as a heist movie combined with a dance film, but it's just such a blast... especially in those action and dance scenes. Shahrukh Khan shows incredible agility. And the camera knows why it loves him so much.

Los viajes de Gulliver (2010)

inglés That was not nice. Jack Black is so extremely predictable in comedies that it's not pretty. He has nothing to offer in them, and the stupid script, where a romantic story had to be, even though it's perfectly unnecessary, doesn't add anything at all. A couple of fine actors who probably enjoyed the filming but didn't convey any of it to the audience.

Vértigo (2009)

inglés I had a moment where I felt like the movie High Lane could be an exceptional film, but it's not exceptional; it's quite average because it failed, especially in its second part, to surprise significantly and show that the beginning wasn't just a very good introduction to killing. The hillbillies here almost feel like a sore thumb to me, and I don't think it works as well as it could if the creators tried a slightly different antagonist.

Hadewijch (2009)

inglés This is a film that has quite a bit of potential because it focuses on the theme of fanaticism, which is quite significant in today's world. But it focuses on it from a slightly different perspective, which is good. Unfortunately, the overall presentation was quite disappointing and I was unable to see the main character as a character whose fate I would care about.

¡Canta! (2016)

inglés When the Beatles song played at the beginning, even though in a new arrangement, I knew the film had won me over, even if the story would be quite predictable, simple, and perhaps overly emotional. But the musical aspect here is truly great, with fantastic song selections that were beautifully rearranged. I'm satisfied.

Endevina qui ve a sopar (1967)

inglés A film about racism that tries to show, in a fairly bearable way, the direction we can take to push aside our prejudices and perhaps even rid ourselves of them someday. Spencer Tracy, Sidney Poitier, and Katharine Hepburn deliver magnificent acting performances, they are relatable and yet manage to convey profound ideas in a bearable manner.

Grandes esperanzas (1998)

inglés A quite interesting approach, where the classic Dickens is transposed into the contemporary setting, and surprisingly, it actually works, mainly thanks to Ethan Hawke who manages to carry the entire film, making it work. Gwyneth is more of an unattainable presence here; her role isn't as significant as one might think.

El último hombre del valle (1949)

inglés An average western that features classically good and classically bad characters, but it's definitely watchable and keeps you engaged throughout. Randolph Scott possesses the right charisma that helps drive the film, along with several well-known gunslingers who make appearances. But it won't be more than average.

Dig Two Graves (2014)

inglés It's such a peculiar story that I couldn't get used to the poetry it presents, how reality intertwines here with something that could even be a fantastical horror. I didn't like the characters that were featured and I was distant from the film the whole time, which ruined the experience for me. No, this just didn't sit right with me.

Gridlock'd (1997)

inglés A rather pleasantly twisted film about two guys deciding to get rid of drugs after their friend overdoses, and they have to do everything they can to save her. Tupac and Tim Roth are quite good in their roles, and as a duo, they click quite well. It's not an absolutely breathtaking experience, but it's ultimately pretty decent.
