Marvel - Daredevil - Season 3 (2018) (temporada)

inglés If a fan of the series skips Season 3, they won’t be missing much. Punisher and Elektra are gone and Fisk is again doing things for a better future, just like in the first season. Everything is even more far-fetched, more muddled and more of a stretch. Apart from perhaps a few episodes that stray from the classic triangle of main characters and bring a fresh wind to the plates (e.g. the Karen episode), it's same old same old. I can’t be bothered with a fourth season. Also, this season is missing an over-the-top single take scene like the stairs from he Season 1 or the prison from Season 2. And there's Bullseye, who had so much potential.

Marvel - Daredevil - A New Napkin (2018) (episodio)

inglés A decent finale, with a bland final fight that fits the overall style and flavour of the third season, which wanted to offer a lot, wanted to make the most of Wilson Fisk's character, but didn't quite succeed script-wise.

Marvel - Daredevil - One Last Shot (2018) (episodio)

inglés As a crime drama it's passable, the work with the characters and their motivations is decent, but it's too long, drawn out, sterile, like the entire third season. Put Kingpin, Bullseye and Daredevil in the ring and we're good to go.

Marvel - Daredevil - Reunion (2018) (episodio)

inglés The best scene is the one that has little to do with the main storyline: the conversation about a picture. Make it to the finale and let’s be done with this drawn out series.

Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb (2020)

inglés Enthusiastic archaeologists and historians, authentic digging of ancient Egyptian tombs, and one insanely overblown piece of footage with an actually not very revelatory finale. A likeable documentary to remind us that there are people doing a pretty important thing over there. And one star higher for lovers of Egyptian history.

David Attenborough: Una vida en nuestro planeta (2020)

inglés An epitaph of humanity with room for a potentially successful future happy ending that is shrouded in uncertainty and question marks. Attenborough communicates it simply, engagingly and clearly. The idea is evident. An absolutely essential documentary that should not be missed by anyone.

Camino a la gloria (2006)

inglés One of many sports flicks that doesn't stand out in anything, but doesn't offend, either. Racial discrimination in and out of sports, a good ensemble cast, a solid script and a surprisingly good Josh Lucas, otherwise almost exclusively a B-movie actor. It doesn't really offer anything more than a clash of two races at a time when many things were still taboo and a lot of prejudice against blacks was quite normal. Glory Road describes the rise of dark-skinned athletes in basketball in a fairly humorous yet relatively spirited and classy way, which also meant taking basketball to the next level, as we know the NBA today.

Marvel - Daredevil - Karen (2018) (episodio)

inglés One of the best and most poignant episodes of the third season of Daredevil, and ironically the main character is barely there at all. The dramatic probe in the form of a kind of flashback into Karen's rather dark past is impressive and appropriately dramatic.

El color dels diners (1986)

inglés A film full of life's wisdom and truths of the universe we live in, cleverly, intelligently and Hollywood-ishly wrapped in pop culture garb acceptable to the masses. Eighties mainstream, but offering something a bit more than just light entertainment, from a very interesting and novel billiards environment. Paul Newman as a legend teaching Tom Cruise as a rookie. Who would have thought back then that Cruise would maybe outgrow him in real life.

El diablo a todas horas (2020)

inglés A compelling story from the Midwest full of murderers, perverts, paedophiles and other scum, with normal and sane people popping in here and there. An intense, but slowly flowing tension that benefits mainly from first-class performances (Skarsgård, Pattinson), an impressive and unpredictable script and the fearlessness of the filmmakers to surprise the viewer at times, even shock a bit here and there. Without unnecessary exhibitions like Tarantino, but similarly cleverly structured, and engaging for both the ambitious viewer and the layman.
