A gothic horror tale with nice rhymes, fine cinematography, an idea and decent atmosphere. 7/10.

Kafir: A Deal with the Devil is one of the best-rated horror films from Asia in recent years, so I had high expectations. In the end, however, I was a bit disappointed. The film does bring something new to the genre and in terms of the story, it is quite original. What initially seems like a supernatural story takes a quite unexpected direction, which I definitely appreciate. But it is a bit disappointing that there aren't many scares, the ghosts don't really cause much trouble, and there isn't much gore either. The film focuses more on the story, but it must be acknowledged that the five twists that the director throws at the end were unexpected, and the torture finale with the voodoo doll also had something to it. It is decently shot, the atmosphere is quite decent, and the acting is not bad either, but it didn't derail me as much as I expected. I never believed that there would come a day when I would give full marks to something from the world of Star Wars, but The Mandalorian Season 2 is the ultimate gem that I thoroughly enjoyed, despite the fact that I generally don't like the Star Wars world, don't understand it, and hardly know anything about the characters. I feel a bit like watching The Avengers without knowledge of the previous films, so the references, fan service, and the introduction of unknown characters had no impact on me. But on the other hand, I can't complain about a story that doesn't really progress anywhere, because I wouldn't be too interested in it anyway. I liked that each episode has one big action scene that lasts almost 20 minutes, which is an incredible pace for a 30-minute episode. Visually, The Mandalorian is great, and Pedro Pascal is excellent again. The action is intense and fortunately, doesn't come across as too childish like in the Star Wars world, although there is still no blood. I was impressed by the spider in the second episode, which reminded me of The Lord of the Rings, and of course, the finale, which is epic as it should be – the Dark Troopers are decently unpleasant android bastards. Excellent animation by Japanese standards, on par even Pixar and Disney. Visually, Lupin is a really fancy thing that is definitely for adults. This is my first experience with a movie adaptation of Lupin, but I believe it works well as the dreaded thief. The story's not bad, but the humour was lacking and there was less action than I would have liked. I'm not really the target audience, but Lupin was still fun to watch. Nice animation, revenge, self-sacrifice and an interesting idea. After 12 years, the animation actually makes it ageless. 6/10.

I'm not usually a fan of plasticine animation, but this three-minute short is awesome! Aliens attacking with strange urges to put babies in microwave. A pretty decent and humorously presented carnage and the main character shows surprisingly solid disposal skills. The final line will make everyone laugh. 7/10.

A Canadian animal survival drama about a family of hunters who are tormented by a hungry wolf. Nicely shot and with beautiful nature, Hunter Hunter also captures the attention thanks to main characters, who are not teenagers but seasoned hunters who hunt to survive. I quite liked that strange things start happening in the forest and you have absolutely no idea what is going on. However, the film suffers from a very slow pace and in hindsight not that much happens. The finale with one intense scene is a bit nice, but somehow not enough for a higher rating. Nice animation and an interesting idea, but nothing much happens. The horror atmosphere is almost nonexistent and the idea is not enough to make me happy. I'm not that interested in this one. 6/10.

A very good atmospheric short from Canada. A tired and drowsy driver, staying awake only with pills, hits a mannequin and finds himself suddenly in a town full of mannequins. Decent atmosphere and a great twist. 8/10

Excellent opening music and a nice idea about an alien taking an abduction test under a strict mentor. Like driving school for aliens, very good. 8/10.
