Azurose

An excellent film about love, misunderstanding and otherness. I completely understand that many people will not like the film, for several reasons. The main protagonist goes through a difficult time and is not supported or understood. Her relationship with Jumbo is very bizarre but doesn't come across as grotesque, which wouldn't be such an easy thing to fall into. The whole story works very well and it's clear that working with a woman who married an Eiffel girl only helped the story. The film doesn't play games, it doesn't try to impose anything on the audience and the viewer gets what they need from it. I was very pleased with the work with mystique that both Jumbo and the protagonist carried. I acknowledge that the film is a successful work of all components and I downright recommend seeing it in the cinema if you have the chance.

A visually interesting film that has nothing to offer except beautiful observational shots. We follow three young girls enjoying the nightlife and dealing with the problems of all teenagers. This is precisely the problem, as their problems are now familiar to everyone and are so common that they surprise no one. The girls are not very likable and the filmmakers try to save it with emotional scenes. But the film delighted me with its modern music and stunning shots of the American environment. Overall, I would sum up the film as an enjoyable film to sit through that can serve as an insight into the lives of young Americans.

An enjoyable film about two women trying to fulfill a dream that society doesn't look kindly on. The film gets off to a slow start, but after the first third things move very quickly and then the pace slows down again. Cinematically, the film is very weak. Still, it excites and awakens emotions. Above all, the most interesting thing is the insight into the conservative Eastern society and the life of two women who break the myths of this very society.

The director decided to combine two different themes, the death of a mother and drag queens, which are connected by dance. However, here the filmmakers encountered a number of problems. Neither thematic line is properly completed, so the whole thing feels confusing. The main character is uninteresting, her personality doesn't develop in the story and she doesn't really try to achieve her goal... In the end, she does accomplish her goal herself, but with the help of other characters who are much more interesting. The creators obviously don't even know anything about drag queens, because they have a weird behavior and completely miss the typical traits of this "culture". Also, the filmmakers have resigned using any visual dramaturgy. I started laughing only in the last ten minutes, which is rather self-sabotaging for a comedy film. The film is certainly a huge disappointment, and not just for me...

Interesting concept, worse execution. The story will engage and surprise the viewer, but apart from one plot line it has nothing to offer... Unfortunately, all the characters behave in a template-like manner and sometimes everything is pushed to the extreme, until the viewer doesn't want to believe it. However, the form of the spaceship and its functionality is another level above what is usually the case with other films. It's a good film, which captivates, but has almost no thematic overlap...

The second season is already a bit more interesting, the characters are stronger and the visuals reflect the higher budget. But again, the vast majority of elements don't make sense. Abilities are passed on at the snap of a finger, and conflicts that open up during the story don't get resolved at the end. The whole season feels unfinished and confused, but it is slightly better than the first season.

A huge disappointment. The filmmakers decided to combine Norse mythology and contemporary events in an interesting way, but here they ran into a number of problems. It's clear that the series is primarily aimed at a young audience, as it has Skam stars and is all about teenagers. It's not at all believable and in the context of the overall story it would have made sense to follow adult protagonists, not children. This brings up the first and most important problem. The protagonist arrives in town and "gets" powers from an unknown saleswoman. How is it possible for an unknown woman to give him abilities when giants (the antagonists) have been around for 3000 years and he is only about 17? Absolute bullshit. The creators keep raising the question of who the unknown saleswoman is, but we learn nothing. Again, a stumbling block. When our protagonist starts getting into trouble and no one believes him, he's stupid and doesn't think to pick up the chair he's sitting on and twist it. Not only him, but all the other characters are extremely stupid and their behavior doesn't match their characters. For five and a half episodes we wait for the climax of the plot, which after watching is a two-minute boring scene. Ragnarök is described pretentiously all the time and when the viewer sees him, he has a sadness on his face. Of course, everything does not revolve around mythology, but around the problems of the city's inhabitants and the environment. If the two themes are to intertwine, they have to fit together. Unfortunately, this is not the case here. I must praise the music, the visuals and the camera work. The picture is beautiful to look at and the filmmakers really conveyed the feeling of the situations to the viewer. Overall, I have to rate the series negatively, although I enjoyed watching it.

A masterpiece performed by the brilliant Hopkins and Colman. Every shot, every dialogue made sense and felt quite personal. There is an art to getting the most out of such a serious subject, and here it just worked.

The visuals are charming, more well thought out in the second season due to the higher budget. It's a bit of a one-afternoon flick.

Compared to the first film, this one is more complex. There are many more conflicts, and they tie in well with each other. I dare say that the film is funnier because the humour is punchy and comes more from the situations than the dialogue. The second half of the film wasn't so much fun and it was topped off by the text describing the "characters", without which the whole ending could have been completely dispensed with. I must also give a positive assessment of the monkey talk, which is aptly complemented by the subtitles. The film does a great job of depicting various stereotypes in the family and society in general, yet it doesn't make the characters too stylized. Overall, I enjoyed the film and I think it's a very well done film. I would put both films on the same level, as they don't outdo each other and don't really try to. The fifth star was taken away by the repetitive gags and the previously mentioned text in the picture.
