La mudanza (1922)

inglés Other than the spectacular chase with the festive police parade, this slapstick offers at least one moment that leaves me with a smile (the catching of a moving car), one excellent stunt (the ladder) and one actually simple joke that will make me laugh even in my grave (the dog bite).

La última llamada (2013)

inglés Simple, brisk, exciting and interesting as hell. The ending (the final one) could have been a bit different, but whatever. It's good to see Halle Berry back in a role she clearly feels at home, it's impossible not to root for the kidnapped cutie Abigail Breslin, and the villain is truly hellish.

El espantapájaros (1920)

inglés Top-notch shenanigans that don't stop for a second. The house full of improvements is flawless, the chase with the crazy dog is absolutely amazing and the ending crowns everything.

After Earth (2013)

inglés Not great, not terrible. The story could have taken place anywhere, let's say in British Columbia, from where (or to where) the central couple would be transporting, say, a grizzly bear... The science fiction presentation just bogs it down with unnecessary questions like "Why does the planet freeze overnight and how does nature deal with it?". Neither of the Smiths gives a particularly interesting performance, nor does the direction come up with any great ideas... Perhaps only Newton Howard's music is above average.

Niños grandes 2 (2013)

inglés Perhaps a bit more successful than the previous Grown Ups, I even laughed a few times, but that doesn't mean it’s much praise for the film. As soon as there was pissing, vomiting and so on in the film, I asked myself if I really needed to watch that. Fortunately, Salma Hayek and humor, or a hint of it (the scene with the football, the injury and the hospital), occasionally appeared in the big mess that is this film. Of the 100 minutes, however, at least 80 were awkward.

Los pitufos 2 (2013)

inglés I liked the first episode a bit more, but the main thing is that the most important thing hasn't changed - the absolutely perfect Gargamel, played by the charming comedian Hank Azaria, who really has no faults, and his digital cat sidekick Azrael. The story seemed a bit simpler and more straightforward this time, moreover without a proper finale. From the new non-animated faces I was pleased with Brendan Gleeson, from the others Vexy with the nice voice of Christina Ricci. My biggest regret, however, was that the Passive-Aggressive Smurf didn't join the expedition - he just wandered into the village and then disappeared from the plot.

El fantasma de la ópera (1925)

inglés A great atmosphere, a demonic Lon Chaney in a perfect mask, admirable sets (if Christopher Lee hadn't told me in the opening that this wasn't real theatre, but a mere imitation, I wouldn't have guessed it), and a riveting, terrifying tale of love/possession unfolding within them. I consider the first unmasking of the Phantom to be the highlight of the film, but the Masque of the Red Death, for example, was not without its flaws. The modern "rock" music from 1990 fit the film surprisingly well for me.

Frozen, el reino del hielo (2013)

inglés In my opinion, it was a bit better than the much-praised Tangled four years ago, but there were a few things I found lacking in Frozen (unfortunately, even Olaf the snowman, who would have been funny only if he had been dubbed by Josef Alois Náhlovský, since he was so similar to him), and a few things were missing, and so it's not getting a full rating. Anyway, I liked the impressive Nordic atmosphere, the one plot twist I really didn't expect, the subtle humor, the music, the sweetly morbid romance kept at bay and Sven the reindeer.

Las aventuras de Peabody y Sherman (2014)

inglés This cartoon is on par with some others, just like Mr. Peabody is compared to some regular dogs. He is more intelligent, has a lot of ideas, he doesn't lack wit or charm, he can impress, he is actionable and touching, and he is suitable for children and adults. Hats off to its creators who have so carefully selected and blended all the ingredients mentioned above. They "made" an impeccable spectacle with everything that it encompasses.

Kick-Ass 2: Con un par (2013)

inglés The violence is the same as in the first film, but the difference is in the way the film shows the violence. While Matthew Vaughn has somehow managed to justify its use with his own playful directorial style, Jeff Wadlow could not. Blood is again spurting out on all sides of the world (and not only blood, actually), but so what? In my opinion, it's a useless sequel, a hotly edited mash-up that can only stare enviously at its predecessor. The title character didn't interest me at all this time, the heroine didn't interest me either, although she was given more space, and the only really interesting character I really enjoyed was played by Jim Carrey. But there was so desperately little of it...
