Psaní do nebe (2017) (grabación teatral)

inglés It is a pity that Zdeněk Svěrák says during the evening that the Jára Cimrman Theatre was always mainly about humor, however satirical it was, but in the end he denies it himself when he gets into the mud of current politics and starts talking about the direct election of the president. I think the same thing he does about the same person, but it didn't fit for me even a little bit as part of the cheerful piety.

Winchester: La casa que construyeron los espíritus (2018)

inglés A horror with classic editing with everything, including excellent actors. I don't even have to mention Helen Mirren, but I was very pleased by Jason Clarke, who I want to see in roles like this and not in the Terminator films, thank you very much. In addition to them, Winchester has an (un)pleasantly ghostly atmosphere, and a few really successful and artfully escalated jump scares that do not feel cheap, and it is also (for a horror film) thoughtful, and it uses in the end what it indicates in the introduction. I liked the relatively unpredictable atmosphere as well - the whole thing could have turned out any way possible (even worse).

Cavernícola (2018)

inglés The disappointment is huge, but Nick Park just failed to do it this time. For the first time and I hope for the last time. Early Man is, for my taste, primarily a suspiciously overly infantile film, in which an uncomfortably large amount of humor is that someone falls down, someone punches someone, someone is completely stupid, a gigantic prehistoric carnivorous duck jumps out at someone, and so on. Certainly the best character is the pig Hognob, who wants to play with the ball the whole film and throws eloquent looks all around him, while a mail pigeon is stepping on his toes. Of the plasticine cavemen, almost no one was interesting to me. Not that there are no good jokes in the film, they are there, but I really only had fun during the final game, which so beautifully parodied all kinds of football stereotypes. Finally, I would mention the Czech version, which sadly lacks any spark this time. The Pirates! had Ivan Trojan and Eliška Balzerová in the lead roles and it was great dubbing, but Early Man was not that lucky and the crew got rather lackluster voices and there was no surprising casting. That’s too bad.

X-Files: Creer es la clave (2008)

inglés An excellent crime film with a mysterious flavor. Perhaps it would have even worked without Mulder and Scully, but of course it is even better with them. What I was missing in the first X-Files is here. The story doesn't look televised anymore, it's 100% theatrical, and there's no lack of surprises. Apart from Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, I was also very pleased by Billy Connolly.

Detrás de la puerta (1919)

inglés An unreal nail-biter, unexpected and 100% impressive. The less you know about the plot, the better, because Behind the Door really can surprise. Among other things, the film intrigued me with great acting performances - those who expect the theatrical overacting that is a part of silent films will be disappointed. This is completely different.

Expediente X: La película (1998)

inglés It's actually a long episode of the series and unfortunately (whether you're a fan or not) almost from the beginning you know or at least think you know what's going on and what is going to happen. This is a bit of a shame, because otherwise, everything is good. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are even excellent, and a number of scenes have such good atmosphere that one does not even think about if and where they have seen anything similar.

Los archivos del Pentágono (2017)

inglés A perfect film with a flawless Tom Hanks in the role of a journalistic shark - terminator, a 100% convincing Meryl Streep as a hesitant, kind of shy, and at the same time confident publisher, similarly excellent cast of all side roles and precise Spielberg directing. John Williams's music isn't in the film much, but when it is, it does a 100% great job, and Kamiński's camera has just as compelling of a period atmosphere as in Bridge of Spies or Lincoln. As for the plot, I literally fell in love with the investigative war meetings of journalists at Bradlee's house, where huge issues are dealt with, toasts are handed out lemonade is sold. For those interested in a sequel, to which the ending of the film unequivocally invites, watch All the President's Men - I’m sure that Steven Spielberg imagines it just like that.

Krampus - Maldita Navidad (2015)

inglés If Krampus was even more comedic, and I don't care if in the black-humorous style of the skirmish in the attic or the Griswold Christmas break style in which it began, I'd like it even more. Even so, from my point of view, it is a very pleasant surprise, which is able to entertain and tantalize, but it could do without those few annoying, more serious minutes promoting family values. I was probably most pleased by the special effects - with the exception of bloodthirsty gingerbread, not too much digital magic is happening here, but rather good old-fashioned puppets and animatronics. And it all looks great!

Black Panther (2018)

inglés Once again, a very fresh comic spectacle. Almost all of it takes place in Africa, so the design is, as expected, wonderful and the viewer gets to see a lot of great ideas on how to combine folklore with science fiction. Moreover, everything is helped by Ludwig Göransson's perfect music - quite possibly the most imaginative soundtrack of all the Marvel films. T'Challa was sufficiently presented to us in Civil War, so the story can follow that film smoothly, and although it actually tells the story of the origin of another superhero, it does it at least fairly uniquely, it’s own way and with great actors.

La forma del agua (2017)

inglés A great fairy tale with a deliberately B-movie story, but with its message and how it caresses on the soul, it trumps films that are more ambitious. Sally Hawkins is magical in the lead role, and Michael Shannon has created such a hideously entertaining story that I think it should belong to film history - his ambitious maniac is an example of someone completely unique in recent times. Del Toro's precise directing and Desplat's music, whose main motif you want to constantly whistle during the film, wraps it all into a beautiful experience that was seriously worth waiting for, although it premiered more than two months ago across the pond.
