Biografía

Brian Kavanaugh-Jones is president of Automatik, the Los Angeles-based feature film production and financing company that he founded. He was an executive producer on Jeff Nichols' award-winning Take Shelter, starring Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain, and is producing the writer/director's next feature Midnight Special, to star Mr. Shannon and Kirsten Dunst, alongside Sarah Green for Warner Bros. Mr. Kavanaugh-Jones executive-produced Insidious, the most profitable film of 2011, as well as its hit 2013 sequel Insidious: Chapter 2; both films were directed by James Wan. He reteamed with the films' producer Jason Blum as producer on another sleeper hit, Sinister, starring Ethan Hawke and directed by Scott Derrickson. Automatik's movies have included A Haunted House, written by and starring Marlon Wayans, and directed by Michael Tiddes; The Lords of Salem, written and directed by Rob Zombie, starring Sheri Moon Zombie; Boaz Yakin's Safe, starring Jason Statham; Eran Creevy's Welcome to the Punch, starring James McAvoy, Mark Strong, and Andrea Riseborough; Bullet to the Head, starring Sylvester Stallone and Sung Kang, and directed by Walter Hill; Dead Man Down, starring Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace, and directed by Niels Arden Oplev; Hummingbird (a.k.a. Redemption), starring Jason Statham for writer/director Steven Knight; Scott Stewart's Dark Skies, starring Keri Russell; Boaz Yakin's Safe, starring Jason Statham; The Bay, directed by Barry Levinson; and The Babymakers, starring Paul Schneider and Olivia Munn, and directed by Jay Chandrasekhar. For 2014, in addition to The Signal, Automatik's slate includes A Haunted House 2, written by and starring Marlon Wayans, and directed by Michael Tiddes; Afflicted, the award-winning first feature written and directed by Derek Lee and Clif Prowse; 13 Sins, directed by Daniel Stamm; and Grace, directed by Jeff Chan. Mr. Kavanaugh-Jones is reteaming with The Signal director/screenwriter William Eubank and screenwriter David Frigerio on the military action thriller JTAC. Before founding Automatik, Mr. Kavanaugh-Jones was an agent at CAA in the Film Finance department. A native of California, he graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a Bachelor.
