After his father explicitly tells Allard Faas (1973) not to follow his footsteps and become a baker he decided to become a director. At the age of 19 he starts as a camera assistent at the local TV Station in Amersfoort. After a short career in news and TV programs he starts direction commercials and branded content. A world he often escapes by making documentaries because he got something to say of his own and in which he experiments with the rules of storytelling. Rather telling who is wrong or right or pushing his own opinion upon you his films let you think and reflect on your own behavior.
