Biografía

Arnie Gelbart is the CEO of Galafilm, the internationally renowned company, which has been at the forefront of independent film and television production in Canada and internationally. Synonymous with high-quality production values and boasting a catalogue of nearly 400 hours of award winning and commercially successful projects, Galafilm's diverse slate includes documentaries, youth programs, television dramas and feature films.

Galafilm has produced cutting edge documentaries, winning numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award for CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: FIRE WITHIN and a Prix Europa for TV Current Affairs: Television for the critically-acclaimed THE ORIGINS OF AIDS. Its most recent documentary productions include NAICA: THE CRYSTAL CAVE, director Brian McKenna's acclaimed four-hour series THE GREAT WAR as well his one-hour documentaries FROM FAMINE TO FREEDOM and THE SECRET WORLD OF GOLD.

The company has also produced feature films directed by Canada's pre-eminent talents: Lea Pool's THE BLUE BUTTERFLY, Arto Paragamian's TWO THOUSAND AND NONE, Thom Fitzgerald's THE HANGING GARDEN, John Greyson's LILIES (winner of four Genies), Dan Bigras' LA RAGE DE L'ANGE, STEEL TOES, directed by David Gow and Mark Adam and Noël Mitrani's THE KATE LOGAN AFFAIR.

As Galafilm's production slate expanded, it built its reputation by producing award-winning children's programming (THE TALE OF TEEKA, THE WORST WITCH, 15/LOVE, and FUNGUS THE BOGEYMAN) and successful television dramas (TRIPPING THE WIRE, HUNT FOR JUSTICE: THE LOUISE ARBOUR STORY, RACE TO MARS, and Mordecai Richler's classic novel ST. URBAIN'S HORSEMAN). Galafilm's latest success is the multi-generational comedy 18 TO LIFE and award-winning international mini-series co-production WORLD WITHOUT END, based on the Ken Follett novel.
