Anna Stratton

Biografía

Anna Stratton founded Toronto-based Triptych Media in 1994, and has produced a slate that runs the gamut from comedy to drama, with properties chosen for the strength of their characters, innovative story-telling and social relevance.

Triptych is best known for the features FALLING ANGELS adapted from Barbara Gowdy's novel and directed by Scott Smith; THE REPUBLIC OF LOVE adapted from Carole Shield's novel and directed by Deepa Mehta, THE HANGING GARDEN written and directed by Thom Fitzgerald (Audience Award, Toronto International Film Festival); LILIES (Genies for Best Picture, Best Design, Best Sound, Best Costume and 11 other nominations) written by Michel Marc Bouchard and directed by John Greyson and Greyson's ground-breaking musical about Aids, ZERO PATIENCE as well as for its television dramas LUCKY GIRL, L'HISTOIRE DE L'OIE and its English version, THE TALE OF TEEKA (Gemeaux for Best Drama and Banff Rockie for Best Chidren's Drama and HEYDAY! (Best Television Drama, Chicago International Film Festival). THE GIRL KING marks the third collaboration (LILIES, L'HISTOIRE DE L'OIE) with writer Michel Marc Bouchard and translator Linda Gaboriau and the fourth Ontario/Quebec co-production with Galafilm.

Triptych's more recent films include Gary Yates' feature HIGH LIFE, based on the hit play by Lee MacDougall, which premiered at the Berlinale; EMOTIONAL ARITHMETIC, closing night Gala, TIFF, based on the novel by the late Matt Cohen, directed by Paolo Barzman, and starring Susan Sarandon, Christopher Plummer, Gabriel Byrne, Roy Dupuis and Max von Sydow. Also  the documentary AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE with author Ryan Knighton and director, Scott Smith and Triptych was executive producer on Richie Mehta's feature debut, AMAL.

Anna Stratton worked previously in the performing arts as a producer, administrator and educator and as Head of English Language Theatre for the Canada Council. She produced theatre, dance and performance works for the stage, including the hit play, TAMARA. She is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre and has served on many boards and committees including the Feature Film Project of the Canadian Film Centre, Dance Umbrella of Ontario, where she served as President for 6 years, the First Night Festival and the Toronto Theatre Festival. She is a co-founder of Reel Canada, the festival of films for high schools and of PRO, the Producer's Roundtable of Ontario and has served on the OMDC advisory group for screen-based industries.
