Biografía

Asif Kapadia (b. 1972, London) studied filmmaking at the Royal College of Art. His first success came with the short film The Sheep Thief (1997), which won 2nd Prize Cinéfondation at the Cannes IFF. He has shot three features: The Warrior (2001 – Horizons at KVIFF 2002), The Return (2006), and Far North (2007). But his biggest draw thus far has been the documentary Senna (2010). This riveting portrait of the legendary F1 driver became the highest grossing UK documentary of all time, winning two BAFTAs and the World Cinema Audience Award at Sundance 2011. His sure directorial hand, captivating audiences with the help of surgically precise script development, can also be seen in the portrait Amy (2015), which world premiered at this year's Cannes IFF. At present Kapadia is preparing his fourth feature, Ali and Nino.
