Biografía

Héctor Babenco spent seven years of his life traveling through Africa, Europe, and the American continent. In 1971, he discovered his passion for film while traveling through Brazil. He directed his first film, King of the Night, in 1975. The Kiss of The Spider Woman, directed in 1985, was the first of his films to screen in Hollywood and was nominated for the Golden Palm at Cannes. Héctor Babenco was member of the jury at the Cannes, Berlin, Venice and Sundance festivals. His feature film Carandiru was shown as part of the Official Selection at the 56th edition of Cannes in 2003.
