Born on June 13, 1990, and raised in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England, AARON JOHNSON attended the prestigious Jackie Palmer Stage School.

His previous credits include playing a young Eisenheim in the Oscar®-nominated and award-winning film The Illusionist; Shanghai Nights, opposite Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson; The Thief Lord, with Caroline Goodall and Jasper Harris; the independent U.K. film Dummy; Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, directed by Gurinder Chadha; and The Greatest, opposite Carey Mulligan and Pierce Brosnan. He has also appeared in several popular U.K. television series, including Feather Boy, Family Business, Nearly Famous and Talk to Me.

In 2009, Johnson was seen in Sam Taylor-Wood's Nowhere Boy, in which he portrayed John Lennon during his turbulent teenage years. His riveting performance earned him several award nominations, including a London Critics' Circle Film Award for Young British Performer of the Year, a British Independent Film Award for Best Actor and an Empire Award for Best Newcomer, which he won. Screen International named him one of its "Stars of Tomorrow" in its 2010 portfolio.

In 2010, Johnson played the lead role of Dave Lizewski/Kick-Ass in the hit film Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the Mark Millar comic, opposite Nicolas Cage and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Johnson also starred as Count Vronsky in the film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina," directed by Joe Wright and written by Tom Stoppard. In the film, Anna (Keira Knightley) is trapped in a loveless marriage and looking for a better life, but only finds a more complicated one. The film has a star-studded cast, including Jude Law, Michelle Dockery and Holliday Grainger.
