Biografía
Tras estudiar leyes, Jean-François Lesage comenzó su carrera como periodista para la televisión y radio canadiense en Alberta y Columbia Británica. En 1998 conoció el cine chino y viajó a Beijing donde vivió por espacio de seis años. Ahí dirigiría su primer documental Sweet Nights Sour Nights (2004). Le siguió How Can You Tell if the Little Fish are Happy? (2009), codirigida con su hermano Philippe Lesage. De vuelta en Montreal, dirigió A Mile End Tale (2013), seguida de A Summer Love (2015). The Hidden River (2017) es su cuarto largometraje, con el cual ganó el Premio del Jurado en el RIDM.
