Biografía

Erik Gandini (born in Bergamo, Italy). Gandini moved to Sweden at the age of 19. He debuted with the documentary RAJA SARAJEVO (1994) which immediately gained recognition worldwide followed by NOT WITHOUT PRIJEDOR (1996) about young Bosnian refugees in Sweden returning to Bosnia to join the war, AMERASIANS (1998) about the 100.000 children of American soldiers in Vietnam, and SACRIFICIO – WHO BETRAYED CHE GUEVARA (2001) (co-directed by Tarik Saleh), that stirred an international debate. These were followed by SURPLUS – TERRORIZED INTO BEING CONSUMERS (2003) a hard-hitting look at the consumer society and GITMO – THE NEW RULES OF WAR (2005) (co-directed by Tarik Saleh) about the situation in the Guantanamo military base. Gandini has won many awards, amongst them "the Oscar of documentaries", the Silver Wolf at IDFA in Amsterdam and the Silver Spire Award at the Golden Gate Int. Film Festival in San Francisco.
