Biografía

Margarita Ledo Andión is one of the most relevant figures in contemporary Galician culture. In 2008 she was recognized with the National Galician Culture Award by the Xunta de Galicia. She is a journalist, writer, communication professor, member of the Royal Galician Academy, filmmaker and a tireless promoter of projects in political and cultural activism. In 1991 she founded the Faculty of Information Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela, where in 1997 she started the first postgraduate academic program in creative documentary in Spain, co-directed with Romà Gubern and that produces films coordinated by Patricio Guzmán, Joao Botelho or Basilio Martín Patino. As a filmmaker, she made her directorial debut with the diptych formed by Santa Liberdade (2004), the first film in the original Galician version directed by a woman to be released in theaters, and Liste, pronounced “Líster” (2007). In 2012 she directed A cicatriz branca (2012), her first fiction feature film.
