Cormac McCarthy

Cormac McCarthy was born in Rhode Island. He attended the University of Tennessee and served the US Air Force. McCarthy then returned to Tennessee before moving to Chicago, where he worked as an auto mechanic while writing his first novel, The Orchard Keeper. McCarthy followed his debut with Outer Dark in 1968 and then worked on Child Of God, which was published in 1973.
