Biografía
Filipino director Lino Brocka began his career running the pedagogical theater in Manila, where he staged plays by Jean-Paul Sartre, Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller. In 1974, he founded the independent production company Cine Manila, and then directed Manila in the Claws of Light in 1975. In 1976, Insiang became the first film from the Philippines to be selected in Cannes, where Brocka returned on three more occasions with Jaguar (1980), Bona (1981) and Bayan Ko: My Own Country (1984).
