Daniel Dencik (b. 1972, Stockholm) studied editing at the Danish National Film School in Copenhagen (1999). In addition to his film work he has written poetry and short stories since his early days, and has published five books to date. He is the editor or screenwriter behind a number of successful titles, such as the features Nói albinói (2003), Dark Horse (2005) and Labrador (2011), the last of which was premiered at Cannes. He won the Reel Talent Award in 2012 at Copenhagen's CHP:DOX festival, presented to emerging documentary filmmakers. The Karlovy Vary IFF screened two of his documentaries in 2013: his debut Moon Rider (2012) and his second feature-length work Expedition to the End of the World (2013). The short documentary Tal R: The Virgin (2013) played to Karlovy Vary IFF audiences a year later. The unconventional historical film Gold Coast is his feature film debut.
