Sinopsis(1)
After living in France for ten years, director Anja Unger returns to her home country Germany. She is searching for evidence of history in her own family’s past. Looking through a family album she discovers relatives she never met. One of them is a great-uncle who joined the SS early on. Another great-uncle committed suicide in Rostock, after Germany was divided. There are many burning questions to be answered: What did her grandmother think, when she visited the freed concentration camps? What was Eastern Germany like in the years after the Re-Unification? On her journey Unger comes to realize how strongly her family’s story is formed by history. In the conversations with her relatives, the past becomes living memory. (DOK.fest München)
