America The Beautiful: Wild Winter

America’s winter has a bite! Subzero temperatures, bitter winds, little or nothing to eat. Some retreat to nests and dens to wait for Spring while others migrate long distances to warmer lands, but the strongest of them all tough it out. Timber wolves and mountain lions search for food far and wide with their powerful noses. River otters and bald eagles hunt within breaks in the ice, while great grey owls plunge deep into the snow for a meal. Every morsel could mean the difference between life and death.
