Worker managers of the Hungarian National Iron Casting Works assign a party responsibility to the young widow Mrs. Szabó, the excellent worker and distinguished mother, member of the factory committee and party organisation: she has to put the badly organised, female, human and production conflicts ridden seed production plant in order. Mrs Szabó does not only transform women of the workshop into a diligent team based on solidarity, which is ready to participate in the working competition, but also manages to change the woman hunter, easy-going Hódis into a serious innovator working for the sake of community and a loving, faithful husband to her.
