Kvinnorna på taket

It is 1914 and war is approaching. Linnéa, a young woman, arrives in Stockholm to work as a shop assistant. The only place she can find to live is a small attic room next door to a unused studio, full of strange shadows and sounds. Linnéa gets a job with a photographer, Fischer, who shows her how to use her eyes. She gets on his nerves as an employee, but he respects her as a woman. Then Anna, another photographer, moves into the empty studio and from that time on Linnéa's traditional existence is changed into one of unsuspected freedom and sensuality. Anna harbours a frightening and bitter secret and the shadows in the studio become increasingly odd. One day a strange man enters the studio through the window.
