Timothy Leary's Dead

Sinopsis(1)

Richard Nixon once called him ‘the most dangerous man alive‘. During his life the intransigent American-Irish Timothy Leary played manifold roles. In the sixties this former Harvard professor acquired fame with his experiments with hallucinogenic drugs. Later on the professor advocated the use of LSD and introduced the drug into the world of popular culture. Leary‘s message to listen to ‘your inner self’ and to reject the establishment made him the psychedelic guru of the hippie community. In the nineties, after years of voluntary exile and forced detention, Leary moved his field of activity to cyberspace. He toyed with the thought to commit suicide ‘live’ on the Internet and proposed that afterwards his head should be deep-frozen. In a collage-like tribute, director Davids describes the humoristic spirit in which Leary faced his end. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
