Göndör Sándor, "bad boy of the village" is just out of clink. He is after Bátki Tercsi, already picked for Lajcsi, the judge's son. Judge Feledi wants a marriage between Sándor, the bad boy, and Finum Rózsi. Feledi Boriska is secretly in love with Sándor, whom she tries to calm down when the young man has a glass too many at Tercsi's wedding party. However, she cannot prevent Sándor from behaving scandalously, ending up in prison again. Sándor, out of clink, finds Tercsi married with a kid. Again, he takes to drinking and, bidding farewell to the village, he is set to leave forever. However, Boriska reaches out for him, her love, one of self-sacrifice, paving the way for their marriage.
