Dr. Gerleszegi Gerle Géza, chief health officer at the Charitable Ladies' Female Orphanage in Buda leads a careless and irresponsible young man. He wants to marry a rich woman, Zsámbéki Edit, to get rid of his debts. Leleményi Piri, Gerle's female friend and a dancer, threatens to make a scandal and is, therefore, a major obstacle to the planned marriage of convenience. This is when Péntek Rézi, a girl from the orphanage, makes a timely appearance at Gerle's villa, which is already invaded by an army of creditors. The girl has long been in love with the health officer. The kind-hearted woman, who has an air of naiveté and clumsiness, proves to be practical-minded enough to be able to solve the man's problems.
