Circleen goes to Turkey on holiday with her artist. Her chums Ingolf, Fredrik, and Viktor decide go to see her, and they stow away on board granddad's ship, which is also heading south. On board they meet another stowaway, a tough, fearless mouse by the name of Ali, who has set off into the world in search of happiness and the hope of bringing back lots of cheese for granny, dad, mum, and the others. Our friends get dragged into the new mouse's adventures and agree to help him to obtain cheese on board. But granddad is furious: he doesn't want kids on board. The cat, the cook, and the captain aren't exactly mouse lovers either, and our pals have to endure endless trials and tribulations before their perilous voyage is over.

Meanwhile, Ali has a secret. But his tall stories are all found out: Ali is forced to reveal that he is actually a girl, Özlem, disguised as a boy because where she comes from boys have much more fun than girls. Özlem has run away from home because she is sick of being bullied and teased by her horrid brothers, who never let her join in. But Özlem misses her granny, and her family misses her, especially her granny, who is very close to her.
