Un sacerdote de izquierdas, John Smallwood (Peter Sellers), es trasladado por error a un pueblo de nuevos ricos. Una vez allí se horroriza porque un basurero y un hombre negro son los vigilantes de la parroquia, la iglesia está abierta a la familia Smith que ha sido recientemente desahuciada de su caravana y una viuda aristócrata que trabaja como hermana de la caridad se dedica a revolucionar al pueblo y a todos sus habitantes. A very endearing comedic parable with a beautifully low-key Peter Sellers, whose Reverend Smallwood is a sort of precursor to Chance the Gardener from Being There. The film is too long, but that's the only thing I can fault it for. It’s clear from the beginning that the plot has little to do with reality, where many things would be solved and resolved differently, so I didn't even mind the final jump to somewhere completely different, because it actually belonged there and definitely made sense.
