Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell) es un empleado eventual de 39 años que vive con su madre, Nancy (Mary Steenburgen). Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) es un desempleado crónico de 40 años que vive con su padre, Robert (Richard Jenkins). Cuando Robert y Nancy se casan y se mudan juntos, Brennan y Dale se encuentran obligados a vivir en la misma casa como hermanastros. Mientras su narcisismo y su completa holgazanería amenazan con destruir a la "nueva" familia, estos dos niños bien crecidos, inmaduros de mediana edad, ponen en marcha un delirante plan para que sus respectivos padres vuelvan a estar juntos. Such a terribly predictable movie, but there's nothing to be done. There are scenes here that I liked and just the idea of J. C. Reilly and Will Ferrell as stepbrothers their age, living with their parents, is excellent. It's nothing revolutionary, but here and there I really had a good laugh. It's a shame that the scripts are so dull and don't focus on the story, not just the situations.

I like Will Ferrell most of the time, John C. Reilly only occasionally... But here they're both equal:they're as awkward as most of the film, in which probably only Mary Steenburgen and Richard Jenkins managed to entertain me. Otherwise, it was an unnecessarily roundabout, silly to the point of disgusting spectacle in the style of last year's Holmes & Watson.
