Am I the only one who finds it strange that the French are making a period movie about communist Russia and especially about Stalin? On the other hand, I have to say that André Dussollier played Stalin really well, even though he doesn’t look that much like him. Likewise, the period is well portrayed. Fear, danger, stress, the movie has it all. It’s a shame that the leading role of Marina Hands is so incredibly mediocre that it’s very difficult to pay full attention to the movie for the whole time. Besides, I’ve seen better and scarier fear of the Communists in movies, so in this case it’s really just average for me.
