inglés A really charming rendition of “The Devil and Kate" with a beautiful fairytale atmosphere (cute costumes and a set by Adolf Born, who of course was especially good in hell) and great singing and acting performances. Especially Kateřina Jalovcová as the resolute Káči and Luděk Vele as the devil Marbuel show that they have a great sense of comedy. Moreover, like their colleagues, they are beautifully understood. Dvořák's music is still incredible, of course, and the orchestra delivers it exactly as it should, and the National Theatre also pleased me by not having any need to update or enrich the opera with anything superfluous (no, the dog, mouse and cat running around the stage didn't bother me, on the contrary, they fit the whole fairy-tale concept) or lascivious - Jirka the sheepdog resisting looking at the princess's cleavage is quite enough, I think.
