John Gotti (1940-2002) fue el jefe de la familia Gambino, asentada en Nueva York, que controlaba una de las organizaciones mafiosas más importantes de Estados Unidos durante el siglo XX. En su lucha por el poder Gotti se enfrenta a otro capo mafioso, Aniello Dellacroce, su principal rival en una cruenta guerra de bandas napolitanas en las calles neoyorkinas. Tras años de atemorizar la ciudad y controlar el mundo de la camorra, el capo, apodado Don Dapper, introduce en el negocio familiar a su hijo, John Gotti Jr. quien, con una moralidad más fuerte que la de su padre, termina renegando de su pasado. Tras enfrentarse a cuatro juicios, John Gotti Jr., quedó libre de cargos y se dedicó a limpiar el nombre de su familia. Su padre terminó sus años en prisión condenado a cadena perpetua. From what I’ve read, this movie was John Travolta’s way of self-expression and an attempt to join the ranks of the best movie godfathers of the last 60 years. I don’t know what he expected. The director is obviously one of the “B-list” talents, as the music alone suggests that this movie will be one huge screw-up. Travolta himself wasn’t that bad but the rest sucked. This movie was only good for telling me that there was another movie made about Gotti in the 1990s which looks much better than this boring abomination.

A lame plot with bland characters, a weak script, and an all-too-routine execution with which Connolly would like to follow the steps of Scorsese et al, even though he's far from having the chops. Only Travolta holds it slightly above water.
