Compuesta de dos historias basadas en dos relatos cortos de Edgar Allan Poe, "El Caso Valdemar" dirigida por el maestro del cine de terror George A. Romero, en la que una mujer joven junto a su amante, intenta mantener con vida a su anciano esposo, para que firme un testamento a su favor, a través de la hipnosis. La segunda, dirigida por el genial Diario Argento, "El Gato Negro", es la historia de un fotógrafo que mantiene una relación con una mujer, que siente pasión por los gatos y que en otra vida fue una sádica bruja. The film isn't perfectly polished and it shows that it's more of a television piece, but both renowned creators attempted to pack something interesting and sufficiently horrific into just an hour. And they succeeded, utilizing Poe's dark poetry that extends into the supernatural, yet still gives you the feeling that it is quite realistic. That makes it all the more frightening.
