This film on the Haitian priest Amon, who visited Poland in the 1980s and tried to use voodoo to free the “white slaves”, mixes documentary approaches with poetic and spiritual fiction. A collage based on the effective juxtaposition of civilizations, it oscillates between culturological joke and social essay.
Amon’s “Gulliverian” exploration of his new reality is both chilling and humorous. As an outside observer, he responds almost philosophically to the long lines for scarce goods: “They came to be together, and yet each is alone.”
