An animated series in 2D for Monster High. A series of 15 films (most in 3D) soon followed, and the phenomenon continues. Although it is primarily "just" another line from Mattel, Monster High can be appreciated by older viewers who are familiar with the classic monsters. The main characters are Frankie Stein (the daughter of Frankenstein's monsters), Draculaura (daughter of Count Dracula), Clawdeen Wolf (daughter of a werewolf), Lagoona Blue (daughter of the frog man), Ghoulia Yelps (daughter of a zombie), Cleo de Nile (daughter of a mummy), and Deuce Gorgon (son of Medusa). It is practically the intermediate level between The Munsters and Vampirina. Some episodes were also released as a bonus on the Monster High DVD. Season 5 introduced some very good new student characters from all over the world - Lorna McNessie is the daughter of the Loch Ness Monster, Marisol Coxi is the daughter of the South American Bigfoot, Amanita Nightshade as a rare flower gets on Cleo de Nile's nerves... the best of the playline was the Gloom and Bloom series (especially Venus). Season 6 became the last classic series and had two great themes - the circus Freak du Chic and once again some new international students to whom Frankie passed the baton to the new ghouls in the school - Batsy Claro, Isi Dawndancer and Kjersti Trollson. It’s a touching end to the first era. Season 7, in a new 2D animation style and under the title Adventures of the Ghoul Squad, followed the movies Welcome to Monster High and Electrified. Both a new Monster High 3D animated film and a live-action film were announced for 2022.
