La Cinquième Saison

The third part of the successful trilogy by the directing duo of Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth symbolically depicts the decay of the relationship between the man and nature. The inhabitants of an agricultural village in Ardennes live in a seeming symbiosis with the surrounding landscape, but it suddenly revolts and starts to wither for unknown reasons. The villagers are desperately trying to stop this agony, but at the same time, they are losing their moral scruples. This visually impressive, partly experimental film evokes the end of the world with similar urgency like The Turin Horse by Béla Tarr. The directing duo even uses similar means of expression, such as long, grim, and highly stylized shots. (Febiofest)
