Sinopsis(1)

Sweet Dreams tells the story of Rwanda's first ice cream parlour and the women behind it, the percussion group called Ingoma Nshya. It is also a story about the effects of the genocide on the people of Rwanda and their efforts to let go of the past and move on. The film builds on the reminiscence of the women in the percussion group. Although the grim history of the country cannot but loom in the background, mourning is left behind. Visually the film echoes harmony and hope. Playing drums and selling ice cream give the women a new purpose of life and a sense of accomplishment and success. What counts is the ability to dream. Kiki Katese, the founder of Ingoma Nshya, puts it aptly: "If you believe that something is possible, it is as good as done."
