It’s a good old European psychological drama with everything that entails, and I am not at all surprised Denmark contributed to it. It feels that despite their hygge approach, they attract those psycho characters because what is happening in this film is a real mess. The screenwriter Magnus von Horn apparently had a lot to say about the script. But if you put the story to Poland and add Polish actors and actresses, you can’t be disappointed. The Word is an absolute top and it is nerve wracking from the beginning to the very end. On the top of it all I would like to add that Dawid Ogrodnik is a genius. He is the best Polish actor nowadays. On the other hand… the newbie Eliza Rycembel did well too. It depends on your personal preferences but within Polish cinematography it is a solid A. The saying about worries growing in proportion to the size of your children is true. You can show them the path to take and provide support in case of minor accidents, but how fast they drive, and whether they swerve or completely take a different road is largely out of your hands. You only know the rule that if something more serious happens, it’s often related to the state of the road. Anna Kazejak delivers a painful touch of authenticity that hovers over the parental "what did we do wrong" and the difficulty of reading psychopathic behavior patterns during hormonal instability. Essentially a variation on Schroeder’s Before and After, powerful in its pulsating everydayness. (08.08.2022)

This psychological drama set in the environment of the teenage generation shows how far a lovesick individual can be driven by a relatively innocent betrayal in love. The main role was played very convincingly by the talented debutant Eliza Rycembel. The story isn't served to the viewer half-heartedly, which requires their increased attention and, at the same time, adds to the suspense. (07.03.2020)
