On one hand, a really pleasant thing about French cinematography is how vast it is. Sometimes, French artists shoot a movie that wouldn’t even manage to get a minimal government funding anywhere else; Nobody from Nowhere is an incredibly strange movie. It tells the story of a man who’s messed up in the head. And obviously, the writer doesn’t care whether the viewer will form any sort of relationship with him or not. It does come to feelings, but after half of the movie when it all starts to shift inconspicuously and it gets more and more interesting with each passing minute. ()
Mathieu Kassovitz played perfectly the role of a man who wants to emulate others. He doesn't want to be himself, he wants to be them, he wants to live their lives. Kassovitz makes the film absolutely riveting. Well, he and the great makeup artists. A great drama that is actually an intimate thriller and a great psychological study. ()
