In the past, we searched for the causes of infertility. Today, we look for ways of treating it. One such treatment is in vitro fertilization. It's a miraculous solution for some families, but others are less fortunate, either because this option is unavailable in their country, or because the attempts they made in local hospitals were unsuccessful. There is an alternative for these couples – medical tourism. Pavel Jandourek recounts stories of couples who travelled to clinics offering assisted reproduction in foreign countries in hopes of achieving pregnancy. The documentary features dramatic music and the camera rapidly shifts from filming people and their stories to images of foreign lands and their cultures. Jandourek connects the testimonies of specialists with footage of the complex procedures that are necessary for artificial conception. The creation of a human being unfolds right before us, as if under a microscope. Apart from biological questions, the film puts forth many ethical and philosophical ones as well.
