A nameless character is on a work trip through the post-apocalyptic environment of the housing crisis in the Mojave Desert. His job is to exterminate mosquitoes from the pools of foreclosed homes. On the road through this isolated region, everything from dragonflies to tarmac reminds him of Chelsea, his ex-girlfriend. On matters of love and metaphysics, he turns to local drifters, evangelists and psychics, all of whom promise: "You will find love again." As the trip progresses, it becomes increasingly difficult to find water or mosquitoes in this deserted area. To make matters worse, he is losing contact with Headquarters. The landscape he passes through looks familiar. It is his life: empty, sad and isolated. Lovesick, he stops hunting for pests and reflects on alternative ways of living.
